The mission of Veterans Justice Project and is to assist and advocate for the homeless and justice-involved veteran with as many resources and as many options available for a successful transition. That reponsibility falls on the shoulders of NYC Department of Homeless Services.
Many veterans suffer from chronic homelessness, drug/alcohol dependence, and mental illness which makes the struggle that more difficult.
Whether transitioning from imprisonment back to the civilian world as a felon and unable to vote, or out of homelessness, these few veterans need a little extra support from our communities.
Unfortunately, there are organizations within and outside of the Veterans Affairs Transitional Programs that see veterans only as a means to collect funding while offering very little in the way of resources and services.
If you are in a transitional program we would like to hear from you.
