Speaking Up For Vererans


Veterans compose 7% of the general population, but only 1 - 2% of newsrooms. Information can become misconstrued when those who haven't served report on military and veteran issues, especially when the report concerns veteran mental health and suicide. Veterans in NYC wishing to request information for a story or whitepaper can file an Article 6 of the New York State Public Officers Law is known as the Freedom of Information Law (FOIL). This law allows members of the public to request records from New York State or local government agencies.
