Stand Down NYC: A Call to Action for Our Veterans
Every night, hundreds of New York City veterans sleep in shelters or on the streets—despite being eligible for housing assistance. The system meant to serve them is broken: case managers are overburdened, paperwork gets lost in bureaucratic delays, and life-saving vouchers often go unused.
You can help change that.
Stand Down NYC is a two-day event to be held at a localized location that brings housing support, job opportunities, legal aid, and community services directly to the veterans who need them most. Instead of asking them to navigate a maze of disconnected services, we bring the resources to one place—accessible, efficient, and veteran-first.
We’re calling on individuals, businesses, and foundations to help us fund this urgent initiative. With your support, we can provide:
- On-site voucher processing for HUD-VASH, CityFHEPS, and other housing programs
- Documentation and legal support to break through red tape
- Pilot programs like voucher roommate matching and veteran work crews to repair shelters
- Housing readiness workshops in a supportive, community-led environment
- Hot meals, transportation, and follow-up services to ensure no veteran slips through the cracks
Our goal: $75,000 to help at least 250 veterans with our outreach.
That’s $300 per veteran—less than a night in a shelter, and a fraction of what chronic homelessness costs the city.
This is more than a service fair. It’s a breakthrough. With your donation, we’ll show what’s possible when we treat veterans with urgency, dignity, and coordination.
Help us honor their service—not with words, but with action.
Donate today. Stand with us. Stand Down NYC.
